Maya Angelou Dies At 86



At age 86, renowned poet and author Maya Angelou passes away. The world has lost one of the most influential female voices.

Angelou was born on April 04, 1928 in St. Louis, and served as the northern coordinator for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference in the 1960's. She was fortunate to work alongside Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X. Among her many achievements, she received the Presidential  Medal Of Freedom in 2011 and Lincoln Medal in 2008.
